Have mental health issues derailed or interfered with your ability to pursue academic or vocational goals? Are you receiving treatment (medication and psychiatric care) for a diagnosed mental illness and actively seeking reintegration into society? Did you know that there are scholarships for people recovering from mental health disorders to achieve their career goals by earning a degree The Baer Reintegration Scholarship provides winners with financial support to pursue education degrees ranging from a G.E.D. to graduate degrees.
Applicants must be diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or bipolar disorder; receiving treatment; and actively participating in recovery through volunteer work in the community, part time or full time employment, or current enrollment in an educational program.
Applications must include an essay stating long term career goals and immediate necessary steps (vocational training or education). Applicants must also include three letters of recommendation including one from the attending psychiatrist. Applications must be post marked by January 29th for the 2016-2017 school year (short notice but doable!). Winners of the scholarship are encouraged to reapply annually for continued support.
