The College Re-Entry Center has been buzzing with excitement. Our first class of students just completed the core curriculum and are preparing to start classes in January at four local colleges: Hunter College, The New School, Pace University and the Borough of Manhattan Community College.
Since September, our first class of students participated in programmatic activities including a skills workshop series, weekly cooking and yoga classes, a service project at an animal shelter, and a three day trip to High Point Farm. The core curriculum focused on teaching tools and techniques to reduce stress, increase resiliency, and improve overall wellness. Through our mentorship program, students were able to uniquely connect with someone who had been in their shoes before, which helped instill confidence.
But just because our first class of students are going to back to school doesn’t mean they are leaving Fountain House College Re-Entry. While they are in school, they will be enrolled in our Flex program, which provides access to the College Re-Entry center, our community, and one-on-one coaching.
We’re so proud of our students and the look forward to working with them as they return to college. We are still accepting applications for our second term which begins in January 7th. Click here for information about the program or to apply.
