Dr. Alistair Hanna
The entire Fountain House community mourns longtime Board member and generous supporter, Dr. Alistair Hanna, who passed away on July 12th, 2014. Ali was elected to the Fountain House Board in 2005, and until his death, tirelessly served in many capacities. With his sage advice, he brought clarity and vision to Fountain House. Over the last two decades, Ali was invaluable in many ways, from leading us in strategic planning to introducing new and novel programming ideas such as the College Re-Entry Program. He was a brilliant man and a loving human being who brought wisdom, support and good humor to every setting of which he was a part. The Fountain House community will miss him greatly, but his contributions will be a lasting gift to us all.
Ali, who was born in Northern Ireland, received a PhD in nuclear physics from Queen's University, Belfast and then graduated from Harvard Business School with an MBA. He was successful and prominent in business and deeply involved in philanthropic work. In addition to Fountain House, Ali’s great passion was as a lay leader in the Episcopal Church.
Ali’s daughter and son-in-law are both members of Fountain House. His wife, Rev. Nancy Hanna, is a treasured member of our community. We extend our condolences to his family and many friends.
